_ I should have worn a hat

Well, it turns out I didn't make it through in Orange Unsigned Act either on votes or by being picked by the powers that be. Soooo I went yesterday into London to queue for 5 hours like some soulless X-Factor audition to play acoustically for 2 women & a camera. Results of that today or tomorrow. Alex Zane was there too, wearing (practically) the same shirt as me, interviewing everyone around except for me - and then I noticed something curious. All the people he interviewed were wearing hats. Hats! It might be some sort of conspiracy....well, that's what I would say were I the suspicious kind. Hmm.

Made friends with a couple of decent blokes from the Isle of White band Gweido - who got up at 4am to get the ferry and get into London for the auditions! I do not envy them. Oh, and a hello to Purple Bubble who I finally met yesterday after (apparently not) talking to them online (and talking to their PA instead, pretending to be them..!?). Thanks for the beer guys, it was needed.

Should've worn a hat.

_ a big fat thank you

This post will pretty much be echoing what I wrote on my Orange Unsigned blog, but I wanted to stick it up here too to reach a wider audience - after all, now the voting's closed, I'm guessing you won't feel the need to visit my page as often now to vote for me, right?

Well, I just felt that all that is left to say is

THANK YOU :)

to all the great people who have given me such good feedback on my music, and all the great people who have voted for me - people I've never met before. Imagine that. It's almost as if my music is finally being appreciated by a wider audience!

Well, here's hoping I get through, make the big-time and get to thank you more personally, possibly in the way of bakey-cakey-goodness (no not with Nutrigrain bars, they're not that nice), or just a big piss-up-after-party. Who knows.

In any case, no matter what happens, it's been invaluable to hear your comments and reviews on my music - oh, and did I say thank you to everyone who voted for me?

Ok, so today and tomorrow are the last days you can vote for me on Orange Unsigned Act. If you haven't already, head on down there and click that little green button! I'm being recommended to others on the site by people I've never met, it's really great. I've also got 10 reasons you should vote for me on my blog, so now there's no excuse. Unless of course you disagree with each and every one of them...

So, to put me on your tellybox, vote vote vote. And I promise once this is over I'll stop abusing the word 'vote'.

VOTE!

_ hello again

well that was a long silence. it's a little hard keeping everything up to date when on holiday in south america, so apologies for the serious lack of updates. im back now though, and with some news:

I've signed up to a (UK) Channel4 TV competition called Orange Unsigned Act to be in with a chance of performing on your very own tellybox and signing with Universal Records...the thing is, I need YOU, yes, YOU, to sign up as a fan and vote for me! It takes 2 seconds, just visit http://orangeunsignedact.co.uk - and let the voting commence. Votes should open up within the next 24/48 hours.

A big thank you in advance! In the meantime, after signing up and before you can vote, visit http://orangeunsignedact.co.uk/acts/williamecho where you can comment on my blog posts etc....

With regards to the Lowland Games (which seem like a lifetime away now...), the night was great, and I ended up headlining after all. Issues with the backing tracks & issues with the guitar didn't seem to detract from what was a incredibly fun night, complete with stage invasion and gyrating fans! Videos to be uploaded in the neardistantfutureoneday

_ the drums! the drums!

I've been programming the drums. A lot. Good days, bad days....tired days, too much music sometimes. Carnival Of Black still sounds the best in my opinion. Where We Belong is coming along nicely too. I hope it turns out well for Lowlands...

_ progress

Since setting up Logic Studio 8 in Air Traffic Control (think of it as a home away from home, several stories high and now with superb mixing & production capabilities), I've been able to make real progress with the backing tracks. Hopefully it will all be ready in time for the Lowland Games...no, actually, it WILL be ready in time for the Lowland Games, it has to be!

A Carnival Of Black is ready, sounding great...as is No Man Is An Island, and Red Flag & TNF are done too. More are in progress, plus I started working on a new cover this morning, should go down well with anyone who appreciates their classic rock!

Right, well, better stop posting blogs and get back to work

_ 24-inch iMac: 2.8GHz of media-loving fun

I'm eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new 24-inch 2.8GHz 2GB memory all-singing-all-dancing Apple iMac =D It will help HUGELY in mixing and producing at home. It will mean no more lack of sunlight, living in Bombshelter Studios, no more *hoping* that there will be a studio free on downtime. I'll be able to record at Bombshelter, then come back home and mix mix mix the night away...

SO...hopfully it will arrive in time for the Lowland Games, in time for me to make my own god-damn electronic drum backing track sample thinger.

You can rely on no-one but yourself.

Remember that my friend........................

On a more musical note, I have plenty of new songs that I cannot wait to play live. Some of the titles include:

A Carnival Of Black
Where We Belong
Pleased To Please You
Things Will Change
No Man Is An Island (Except Me)

Plus a veritable album of unfinished ideas, odds & ends, as mentioned in a previous post. Expect much fun, frolics and comedy covers at the Lowland Games in a couple of weekends. Ok, one comedy cover.
